Lies I Have Told Myself
For much of my life, I carried stories that kept me small. They whispered in the background of my mind, shaping how I showed up, how much love I allowed in, and what I believed was possible for me.
Some of these lies sounded like:
There won’t be enough for me.
I am not special enough.
Holding on to the story/pain protects me.
There is something wrong with me.
I take too much space.
Have you ever heard similar whispers in your own mind?
The truth is, these thoughts are not who we are. They are patterns — echoes of old conditioning, learned at a time when our nervous system was simply trying to keep us safe. But when we believe them, they limit the fullness of life that wants to flow through us.
One of the most powerful tools I’ve discovered is to catch the lie and reframe it — to experience something else so deeply in the heart that the old belief starts to dissolve.
I’ve been listening to this beautiful talk by Alan Watts again and again, and I’ve been sharing it with clients too. Every time I hear it, something softens. It reminds me that life is vast, abundant, and already whole.
Today, I Choose to Reframe
Instead of “There won’t be enough for me”, I ask: If I knew I was fully supported by life’s abundance, what choices would I make today?
Instead of “I am not special enough”, I wonder: If I trusted that my uniqueness mattered, what would I allow myself to share?
Instead of “Holding on to the story/pain protects me”, I soften into: If I felt safe to let go, what freedom might I taste right now?
Instead of “There is something wrong with me”, I invite: If I believed I was whole, what would I give myself permission to do or feel?
Instead of “I take too much space”, I breathe into: If I knew my presence was welcomed, how would I show up differently?
The way we change our programming is not by force, but by experience. When we fully feel the truth in our hearts — when we breathe it in, embody it, and let it ripple through us — the old patterns begin to release their grip.
So today, I reframe.
Today, I open to more.
Today, I let myself experience the truth: I belong. I am enough. Life is enough.
